KNOWLEDGE AND POWER PROJECT

1. Choose an essay topic from http://knp.prs.heacademy.ac.uk/teachingresources/essaysuggestions/.

2. Now, go to http://knp.prs.heacademy.ac.uk/lettersqueriesandreports/. This is a portal to several categories of Neo-Assyrian documents which will provide relevant evidence for the essay questions. It looks like a lot, but most are extremely brief. Browse through them, in the various categories (Poetry; Queries to the Sun God; Astrological Reports to the King; Prophecies; Letters from Scholars; Letters from Priests to the King), until you have enough material to write an essay from.

3. Write up your response to the topic in a 1-page single spaced paper. As you did with the ETCSL

project, back up your essay with specific references to the documents. When citing them, abbreviate them not by title but by SAA (State Archives of Assyria) volume and document number: for instance 10 001 (= 'Enthroning a Substitute King').
